I'm Quitting My Job!
I just put in my two weeks notice yesterday. Yep, that's right. I'm finally quitting my job and moving on to other challenges. I've been wanting to post about this for a long time, but since this is a fairly public blog, I had to kinda keep it on the DL. I've been interviewing for the past month or so. The position I was really hoping to get finally came through with an offer! It was so incredible!!! I'll be working for IUPUI (Indiana University Purdue University, Indianapolis) in their Teaching and Learning Center. I'll be an Instructional Development Specialist there helping faculty teach better! No more technology for me!!!
Here's the awesome part. They want me to get my PhD, which, as an employee of IUPUI, I can get for FREE. I will also be able to eventually teach classes. It's all so exciting! The potential for growth is amazing and I'm very hopeful that I'll really grow to like and become very good at this job. YAY!!!
Of course, the downside is that I'll be leaving all my extraordinarily wonderful friends at Butler. Not really leaving them since I'll make an effort to see them often, but there is still a feeling of loss. They have been my family for the last 3 years and I'm going to miss them a lot. Here's a shout-out to my buddies.....love you guys! Tyler, Jeremy, Angie, Andy, Jeff, Brandon, Julie and Serdar! Thanks for being there with me through the best and worst of it.

Congrats, Mona! You sound so excited! I'm in the middle of trying to figure out what's next for me, and can't wait until I finally figure it out!

IUPUI? I hear that their big rival in college basket ball is SMCFTB (St Mary's School For The Blind). I'm not teasing your new job (which is AWESOME by the way) just the number of words in the school's name. I have never heard such a long name for a college. Are they affiliated with IU and Perdue, or is that just the name?
I will make fun of you lifetime student route that you are taking. Whenever I hear about someone in school for so long, I think of the movie Tommy Boy. Tommy graduated in seven years (he is a little dumb) and he says to Richard, "A lot of people go to college for seven years." Richard says, "Yeah. They're called 'doctors'." Of course, you will be 'Dr. mona' when all is said and done.
All bad jokes aside, this sounds great for you.

Thanks, Betsy! I am excited. I don't know if this is the end-all, be-all for me, but it's a great opportunity for me to explore. And hopefully I'll like it a lot.
Eric - it is a long name, I know. It's a partnership between IU and Purdue and they have different campuses, which is why they add on the "Indianapolis" on the end of the IUPU. Yeah....I am a lifetime student. I figure it's ok as long as it's free or cheap. :)
