Saudi Student Discussion Forum

Apparently Saudi students on campus are having a difficult time transitioning/fitting in, but they are also being harrassed and misunderstood. I feel for them, as I know how it feels to not feel accepted and I also know how it feels to be harrassed for being Arab (I was called a hand full of names during the first Gulf War....not cool).

I've been working on a committee to help these students and to support the faculty. Recently there was an incident in which a Saudi student was harrased on campus, so a person on the committee called for an open discussion forum (in person, not digitally) with a panel of Saudi students. Knowing my background, she asked me to moderate the forum. I'm excited to help out! Getting cultures to understand one another and helping people feel more accepted is one of my areas of interest. It will be interesting to see how this goes.
