Strength of an Ape...

I heard once that a particular ape doesn't know it's own strength....I believe it was an orangutan or something. Well, the other night I could relate to this. I was cleaning a wine glass (which was used during the fun times described in the posting below). There was lipstick on the side of it that I was scrubbing off with some force and the glass simply shattered into 3 or 4 pieces right in my hands. I was mostly OK except for two slices on my left pointer finger. Ow. I just thought to myself, "Damn, I don't know my own strength just like an ape."

Weekend Fun!

My friends, Megan and Terralyn, came over to my house Saturday night for some fun prior to going out dancing. We were listening to music while drinking wine and champagne. It was a blast. We decided that we were such hot-stuff that we just had to take pictures of our sexified selves. This is one of the pics where we are doing a Charlie's Angels type pose. Pretty funny, huh!! I mean.....we look so hot, right???

After our little get-together we went out to a club that was within walking distance of my house. We stayed WAY too late, but it was fun. I paid for it the next day, however.....I was SUPER tired.

Pictures from my Mom's

Here are some pictures from my mom's place, as promised. The top picture is my mom's house (obviously). The next is of their old big barn. The bottom is of my mom and I standing front of a corn field that is right next to her property.

Vacation in Exotic Wauseon, Ohio!

Ok, not so exotic, I guess. It was still fun when I went, though. My mom recently moved to a wonderful old farmhouse out in the country. It was built around 1900, as are the two barns on her property. It's really amazing stuff......like walking into a museum on farm history, as there is still all these old tools, lumber, parts, etc that have been there forever. She only has about 2 acres, but is completely surrounded by corn and soy fields. It's pretty cool. Pictures to come.

So, my brother and his family are visiting from overseas, which is why I was there. We had a big family gathering with lots of food and visiting. It was great. I also got to see Amy Kronberg and her exceptionally cute baby, Emma. Hi Amy!! I told you I would mention you. :)

Indianapolis Indians Vs. the Toledo Mudhens

I went to a baseball game Friday night! It was sooo cool! I had no idea that I would enjoy watching baseball so much. I was torn who I should root for, as the Toledo Mudhens are from my hometown. I decided to secretly root for the Mudhens, which was cool because they ended up winning 5-1. I was disappointed that the Mudhens don't have a homegame when I'll be in Toledo this upcoming weekend visiting family. Oh well, I'll just have to see the Indians play some more. I'm totally taking my mit next time so I can try to catch some fly balls.

Shake that thang...

My girls and I went to The Vogue to boogie down and I realized why I don't usually fully enjoy going out dancing at a club. Don't get me wrong, I did have fun this time.....it was a lot of fun, actually. But in the past, I usually end up not really feeling it. It's so simple, really.....but it's just a matter of feeling overwhelming self-concious. I feel like all the guys are sizing me up and that all the girls are....well, sizing me up, but for different reasons. So I end up feeling watched the entire time and can't loosen up and just have fun. But this time, I took the cues of my friends Terralyn and Rachel and just acted like a goof. We were doing the robot, acting like mimes, and being somewhat dorky overall. It was great! I'm so good at being a dork.

I've turned into a softball pro!

Well, not *really* a pro, but here's the scoop....
  • The last two games I have hit the ball every time I've been up to bat. While this is not normally something someone brags about, this is an amazing improvement for me.
  • I've also made it to first base on most occasions. Again....not something people normally get too excited about.
  • I play second base when in the field. I caught a few balls, passed on a few balls to first base, and received several balls, getting several people out. Normally, in the past, I would stick out my glove and close my eyes, which often resulted in my not actually catching the ball (can you believe it?).
  • The most exciting news of all....I made my VERY FIRST RUN last game!!!! I was so excited that I jumped around like a cheerleader after landing on the home-plate. And then, I made another run that same game, just for good measure. WHOOO HOOOOO!!!

So, in my opinion, I am no longer a liability to the team and can be viewed as an actual player. Everyone should tell me how proud they are of me, by the way. :)

July 4th was cool...

After being out most of last week (except for Friday), I had 4 days off for the July 4th holiday. Totally cool! For the actual 4th, I went to Jeremy's friend's house. His friend, Todd, is a professional chef, so lots of good food. He also used to be a bartender, so lots of good mixed drinks. Also, a group of them chipped in for festivities, so lots of good fireworks. I played with roman candles and bottle rockets (is that what they're called??). It was also good catching up with all of his friends, all of whom I haven't seen in quite awhile. All-in-all, I would say it was a fun event. Not too late of a night, either....I was home by midnight. And today at work, I actually had to remember my login-password for my computer since I've used it very rarely these last few weeks. That's a good thing if you ask me.
