Uncool Bikers....

Ok, so I don't usually use my blog as a place to bitch, but I felt the need today. I just can't stand rude and inconsiderate people, but especially when bikers are rude to pedestrians.

I was walking home from work yesterday. It's a lovely walk with a lot of nature and right near a canal. As you all know, I take my camera with me to take pictures now and then. As I was walking along, a saw a mom and dad goose with all their cute, fuzzy goslings. OMG were they the cutest!! So, I paused to take a picture. I was centering my camera on them and was almost ready to snap it when I heard faintly in the distance...."Heads up." I had my finger poised, ready to snap the shot so I didn't move immediately and the guy started yelling "HELLOOOOO!!!! HEEEEEELLLLOOOOOOOO!!!!" in an exceptionally rude tone of entitlment. Sorta like "I'm a bad-ass biker and under no circumstances will I change my speed for a dumb-ass pedestrian with a camera." He then proceeded to FLY by me (mind you that this is a route that a lot of pedestrians use).

Of course, instead of flipping the person off or showing any anger or even annoyance, I apologized and scooted out of the way. I APOLOGIZED! I just can't stand how passive I am sometimes. And no, I don't really want to be rude back to the person (well, for split-second I thought about yelling "JACK-ASS" at the top of my lungs as he rode off), but I don't want to let assholes walk on me, either. I end up feeling bitter about the situation and internalizing the pissed off feelings, which isn't good. So, I need to figure out a way to react to people like that so I can get out some feelings, but do it in a way that isn't rude. Hmmmmmm.....not sure how that one works.

Spring is Here!

I'm so excited about the warm weather and the beauty of Spring. Since it's gotten nicer outside, I've been taking advantage of the luxury I have of living so close to work (I'm not quite 4 miles away from work).....I've been walking to work! It's fantastic exercise and puts me in a great mood for the day. I've been taking my camera along on the off-chance that I'd run into something that I'd want to take a pic of. Every time I walk the route it seems I see something interesting, cute or pretty. Of the pics here: The first is some of the first cute purple flowers that blossomed. I don't know the name of this flower. Help anyone? The other is of the turtles that live in the canal that like to sun themselves during the day. They all pile up on a log and just sit there for hours. Then there is the raccoon photo....this raccoon was just out and about during the day. I thought it was weird that he was out. And then finally...the cutest picture of them all. The mommy duck with all her ducklings. As I was passing her, I didn't realize that she was sitting on all her kids. When she got up, all these cute ducklings scampered out from under her. I took several steps back to make her feel safe so I could take a picture. She posed very nicely for me. very time I look at the picture I feel like scooping up all the ducklings and nuzzling my face in them. SO CUTE!!!!!

Health Update....

Just an FYI....I had another ultrasound yesterday to check up on the cysts that were on my ovaries. THEY ARE GONE!! The cysts have disappeared and there is no need for any follow-up. Just wanted to share the good news with all of you. Thanks to all of you for your support and comfort as I've gone through this. I was hopeful that things would be fine, and all of you were very encouraging. THANKS!

Horrendous Hail!

Man...I have never seen so much hail in my life! This has been a weird and wacky Spring in Indiana. Every time it thunderstorms the hail just plummets down on us. This last storm was the biggest hail I've ever seen (although I know it gets a lot bigger). The storm was absolutely amazing, coming down with such intensity and making such loud noise, it gave me goosebumps. I took a shot of the storm as well as one of the bigger pieces of hail.

Volleyball - The Scared Hitless

Butler has volleyball intramurals that any of their students can join and play. They also have a faculty/staff team that plays against all the students, which I'm on. It's SO much fun!! And our team does really well. Well, I guess technically, we won two games and lost two games, which means that we are actually just mediocre...BUT, we are so good on the court! It's like we've been playing forever. We played last night and we beat the other team (3 games out of 4). It was awesome. I still need to learn how to spike when someone sets it to me, though. I'm good at spiking when it's coming over the net, but run around like a chicken with it's head cut off when someone sets it to me. The pic here is us after we won last night's game. Oh, and The Scared Hitless is our team name. Julie, the really tall blonde next to me (she is 6' 3"), is our star player. She's awesome.

Karaoke Fun...

Karaoke last Thursday was a blast! I sang about 5 different songs and after my two HUGE Long Island Iced Teas (I think they were 20 oz glasses), was the hit of the bar (or so it seemed to me in my unsober state). I sang lots of disco this time, including I Will Survive (one of my favs) and It's Raining Men...which was new to me and I decided I don't really like karaoking to this one. When I got up to sing I Will Survive, a group of drunk women across from us, who brought in props, dressed me up in sunglasses and a scarf. So, that's why I'm all decked out in the picture here.

The other picture are some of the guys that I went with....I believe they were singing Bye, Bye, Bye in this picture....but I don't remember (hmmmm...wonder why I don't remember). Even though it was not the best rendition of the song (which I could tell even in my unsober state), they were troopers, belting out the lyrics in all the wrong keys. I was proud of them!

I went karaoking this last weekend. A group of us girls went and sang up a storm. I sang my old satnd-by, Hit me With your best Shot (Pat Benatar) and then we all sang Bohemian Rhapsody as a group. THAT was fun. it totally reminded me of high school and being in Eric's car with a group of people singing it at the top of our lungs. Ahhh, such fond memories.

Then I ended off the night singing a duet with some dude. We sang Summer Lovin' from the Grease soundtrack. It was beautifully done, if I do say so myself. I'm going karaoking again Thursday night with a group of guy-friends. WHEEEE!
